St. Patrick’s Youth Ministry program is designed to help allow teens to grow in their faith and to be an active part of the community.

The program has two major components:
The first centers around the 5:30pm teen Mass on Sunday. Teens are encouraged to attend the Mass and to take part in our community service after the Mass. Teens are more than welcome to take an active role in the Mass as lectors, Eucharistic ministers ( age 16 and up) or singing with the band. They (and their families) are invited to join us in the Church basement after Mass where we get to know each other, while making 100 sandwiches for the needy in the community. In addition to making sandwiches, our teens are asked to bring food down from Church and to load the food pantry.  This community service reaches out to the most vulnerable in Huntington and is a perfect way to complete our worship together.

The second component involves our service for St. Patrick’s parish commitment to the homeless through the Huntington Interfaith Homeless Initiative.  On Saturdays throughout the December, January, February and March, the teens play a vital role in preparing for the homeless guests who will stay with us for the night. We arrive at about 4:45pm and spend an hour or so blowing up air mattresses, setting up tables, putting out clothing and travel bags, and all the other small things that make the program run so well. In addition, because we have such a great group we make ourselves available to other communities on an “as needed” basis.
